CSWE Gero-Ed Center Staff
Meredith Eisenhart, MSW, Co-Director
Meredith received her MSW with a concentration in gerontology from the School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining the Gero-Ed Center, Meredith served as a Project Coordinator for the U.S Administration on Aging (AoA) through a contract with RTI International. At AoA, she co-managed the Alzheimer’s Disease Demonstration Grants to States program. Meredith has also helped run a program for people with early stage memory loss at the St. Louis chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Meredith loves the field of aging and co-chairs Tomorrow’s Leaders in Aging of Washington, DC.
Suzanne St Peter, MSW, Co-Director
Suzanne comes to the Gero-Ed Center after three years as Director of the Geriatric Enrichment in Social Work Education (GeroRich) Program, where she worked closely with Nancy Hooyman, PI. She brings extensive project management experience, and a solid understanding of social work and gerontological issues. Suzanne received her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Hartford-funded Practicum Partnership Program.
Shannon Dorsey, Project Associate, MAC Project
Shannon graduated from Radford University in Radford, Virginia where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. As a student, she volunteered at Beans and Rice, Inc. a community economic development organization for low and moderate income families. Shannon brings to her position experience in sustaining faculty relationships, logistics coordination, and office administration.
Varya Gracheva, MA, Program Coordinator
Varya received her Master of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Varya brings to her position extensive experience in client relationships, logistics coordination, and office administration. As a student, she volunteered for several non-profit agencies, including work with the immigrant population at the Operational Emergency Center, a non-profit organization addressing the needs of low-income residents of King County, Washington.
Megan Mills, Program Coordinator
Megan joined the Gero-Ed Center after spending two years as a teacher in both public and charter schools in Washington. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, where she also received a minor in Educational Studies. As well as teaching language arts, she interned for the web department of Education Week and has also spent time as a writing tutor, an administrative non-profit intern, and a reporter and editor for her college newspaper, the Daily Gazette.
Markita Brown, Program Assistant
Markita recently received her Bachelor of Science from George Mason University with a major in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. Some of her accomplishments include receiving an Outstanding Field Student in Social Work Award – BSW Program, May 2008; holding the Bachelors of Social Work Student Representative position in the 2007-2008 George Mason University Department of Social Work Field Advisory Committee; and being a active member of Phi Alpha Honors Society and Psi Beta’s Honors Society. Markita has a range of interests and has worked with varied populations through internship and volunteer opportunities. |
